God and His Law (Exodus 19-Numbers) [this week]

Good morning all and a hallowed day to you. God is good all the time, all the time God is good.  TOO BLESSED TO BE STRESSED!  I missed posting yesterday so you will have 2 posts today.
A Covenant - exactly what is a covenant.  Some say a contract, some think of it as a commitment, but why not think of it as a relationship.  When we make a "covenant" with God, why not call it a relationship with God?
At Sinai God established a new covenant (relationship) between His people (Hebrews) and Himself.  God's love, Hebrew word chesed is a steadfast love that binds Him to His people.  It is a covenant love or a relationship love.
First (Ex:19:4) God reminded the people that He brought them out of the land of Egypt, Exodus 19: ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.
Why did He say on 'eagles' wings'? This is like a protective powerful mother eagle carrying them to safety.
Then God gave conditions for the covenant which was to obey His voice and to keep His covenant.  Sounds simple does it not?  Hmmm!  We'll see.
And the third covenant are the promises of God. First to make the people His own treasured possession. Next to make the people of Israel a kingdom of priests, a responsibility to bring God and the people together.  To serve God as a nation.
And last was to make the Israelites a holy nation.  To be holy means to be set apart for a specific purpose.  God called the people to obedience and faith,. They promised to obey and serve Him, which we know, of course, did not happen.
In Exodus 20 the Ten Commandments are given which relates to Judaism and Christianity.  There are 10 commandments, of which the first 4 are controversial with the liberals and peoples of other faiths; yet we all maintain the last 6.
What are the last six?  Do you know. Exodus 20:12-17  If you are not sure click on the link.  Verse 3 - to me is what we all violate daily.  “You shall have no other gods before me.   Love you all.
In Christ's Love and Grace
Johnny
