30 days with Jesus (day 2) - Jesus is born

Good morning all. God is good all the time, all the time God is good.  BE BLESSED, YOU ARE A CHILD OF GOD!!!
Yesterday we learned that a virgin girl was given a message from God through an angel that she would have a child.  Well, here we are, 9 months later with the birth of a child.
We start at Matthew 1:18-25 where Joseph, the man to wed the virgin Mary, finds out she is pregnant.  They go through a conflict until Joseph has a visit from an angel.  The angel explains the situation and what Joseph is to do and the conflict is resolved.
One thing that, to me is important, is Joseph and Mary did not consummate the marriage UNTIL after the birth of the Christ child Jesus.
Then in Matthew 2:1-12 the Magi came to pay honor to the king, Jesus.  In route they came to Jerusalem and inquired as to where the king of the Jews was born?  They had seen his star.  They quoted what the prophet had written:
“‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,
    are by no means least among the rulers of Judah;
for out of you will come a ruler
who will shepherd my people Israel.’
King Herod and all Jerusalem was disturbed by this and called the Magi in.  In his tormented and fearful mind King Herod told them to be certain to come back and tell him where the new king was so he could go honor him.
the Magi followed the star, came to the house of Mary, Joseph and Jesus and presented 3 gifts.  Then just as they were about to return they were told in a dream to avoid Herod and return home another way.  And they did.
When King Herod has realized the Magi were not returning he was angered.  So mad he could spit nails, now what is he to do?  Well, in the meantime an angel came to Joseph and said: “Get up, take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”
Back to King Herod:  he consulted his wise men and realized that this all took place within the last 2 years.  Knowing this he ordered all male babies 2 years and under be put to death bringing forth what the prophet Jeremiah said:
“A voice is heard in Ramah,
    weeping and great mourning,
Rachel weeping for her children
    and refusing to be comforted,
    because they are no more.”
The gifts the Magi brought were valuable for Joseph and Mary to exist in Egypt.  After the slaughter by Herod, he finally died and an angel came once again to Joseph and said:   “Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child’s life are dead.”
Joseph rose, took mother and child and headed back.  When he heard that Archelaus, Herod's son, was now in power he was afraid and went to Galilee district and lived in a town called Nazareth.  This fulfilled the prophets claim that HE would be called a Nazarene.
This is all very interesting and is about our LORD and saviour, JESUS CHRIST!! To read this section of scripture go to: Matthew 1:18-2:23, or Luke 2:1-20.  Luke presents the same message but from a different perspective. Enjoy reading.  Love you all. Tomorrow, Jesus meets his cousin - John the Baptist!  Yea!
In Christ's love and grace
Johnny
