Listen for the whisper - 1 Kings 19:11-12

Good morning all.  God is good all the time, all the time God is good.  TOO BLESSED TO COMPLAIN!!!
God takes good care of us, we not so good at taking time for God.  Often he has to bring us to our knees before we STOP and LISTEN.  A friend of mine, in his late 30's had a stroke during the Christmas Season.  As we talked he commented that he had put JESUS on the back burner, and was moving ahead in the world.
The problem here is multi-fold: 1) Jesus on the back burner; 2) working for the world; 3) being disobedient to God.  He said God definitely has his attention and mine as well.
Look at Elijah, he challenged the priests of Baal, he called down fire from heaven, and was strong standing in God's favor.  And then.......and then..... he heard that Jezebel was out to kill him.  So what does he do?  As a man, forgetting God, runs in fear.  WAIT!! Isn't this the same man that called fire down from heaven?  Oh, yes, he came back to earthly thinking. Let us look at:
1 Kings 19: 11 The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.
Elijah travels 40 days to Horeb, also known as Sinai, the Mountain of God.  A great wind came, but no God. An earthquake came and no God. A fire came and no God.  BUT, after the fire came a gentle whisper.
How often in our "civilized modern world" do we hear all the sounds of t.v., radio, phone, traffic, computers, but fail to stop, be still and listen to God?
Will you take time today to stop, go to a quiet place, and listen for God's gentle whisper.  What may HE be telling you?  Have you stopped to visit with God lately or have you been disobedient (do worldly things and forgetting God).
Yes, we all have lives and the biggest lie we share is "I didn't have time".  The truth is, we don't want to take time.  We can make that sporting event, go shopping, go out to eat, share drinks with friends, BUT, OH----WE DON'T HAVE TIME!  Biggest lie we share.  Priorities, and I am the biggest of the liars about time.  Today, listen for that gentle whisper.  Love you all.
In Christ's Love and Grace
Johnny
